Hi blog!
For today I wanted to talk about some of the questions that I put inside the survey. I also wanted to explain my thought process as to why I choose them for the survey.
For starters I want to say that me and my group all participated in something contributing to the magazine. We all collectively thought of how we wanted our magazine to look like and proceeded to choose at least four options. So let’s talk about the magazine tittle. I was the one to think of the names and choose how the title should be designed. And my group had to either agree or disagree with the names.
I played around with different languages and wording. I wanted our tittle to be different, to be original. By using a different language it makes it more interesting and more captivating. For the first choice I thought of “timeless fashion”, I thought that fashion has been around for decades and implementing that into our magazine would make it stand out. But I also wanted our title to be one word but “timeless fashion” was still an option. So I thought we should shorten it and thought “Timeless” could do the trick. But I still don’t really agree with it but it’s up for our audience to choose if they like it or not. Now for “Eterna” I thought it was very creative to use a different language and we all came up with different languages we could use and we settled in Spanish and Italian since they are very similar languages. “Eterna” means timeless in Spanish. Since I thought “Timeless” sounded too serious maybe in Spanish it would make it more fun for the reader.
Then I thought about “Visionary” it sounds inspiring and that’s what we want. We want our magazine to be inspired, relatable and authentic. I thought using one word for the title it’s not as heavy to have in the cover. I feel like it would be easier to get our point across with one word. And it certainly makes it easier for readers to think of the magazine if it’s just one word. Then I thought of “Uprising”. My group liked this option but they felt like it might be missing something so I decided to translate to another language. We translated the word into French, Spanish, Latin and Portuguese but we settled in using Italian. “Rivolta”, we thought that this sounded better out of all the other languages and it was one word. Although we aren’t total fans of it it’s still a good option.
Now let’s talk about the color schemes. We wanted to have at least have 5 colors in each image to be put all throughout the magazine. So for my survey I choose which kind of tones people wanted to see. Since we are all doing different editions of the magazines we wanted all of our magazines to be somewhat similar yet show our interpretation of fashion magazines.
Here we see four different color schemes. I can’t speak for what my partners thought process was but as for me I choose this shades because to me fashion can be any color. Fashion is whatever you want it to be. So I choose pastels, dark tones, bright colors, and neutral shades. I think there is no certainty that fashion is a specific color but rather an embodiment of all colors combined. And I wanted to show that very same idea in my magazine. I want readers to feel a sense of something unique and refreshing. I think color scheme plays a big role because it makes up the tone of the magazine and therefore the mood of the audience as they flip through the pages. Colors our important pastels can make them feel nostalgic, dark tones can make them feel passionate, bright colors can make them feel cheerful and neutral gives a sense of stability and comfort.
That’s all for todays blog, in the next I’ll talk a little more about what is in the survey!
