#5- USING CANVA PT2

 

Welcome back to my blog!

    As you read from the previous blog my class was working on Canva to improve our editing skills. Lesson 4 taught us about different ways to spark up your texts in your creations. We learned about the different alignments, for example, right now for this blog I'm using left alignment and for my welcome message I used center alignment. Using this can help your writing look more interesting to readers. Another activity we did was, listing. This activity asked us to bullet points and numbers. 

    For example:

• This skill can help improve your writing
•  Bullets can make it easier to read and get straight to the point
• And it can organize your ideas easier

    Another thing we learn was font combinations. I found this activity so entertaining and fun. There is so Many fonts you could use to bring attention to your texts. This can definitely help me with my magazine. I will certainly like to explore using different fonts in the future. Lastly, we also leaned how to use effects on texts. Adding effects to texts made it so much appealing, this different effects can really spark your creativeness.

    Now onto lesson 5, the activities included in this lesson were surrounded by editing photos. We learned how to remove backgrounds, I loved doing this activity because when creating this magazine this skill will come in handy. Another things we were exposed to was the use of shadows, using this in pictures can make them more pleasant. Something that really infatuated me was the use of different filters on pictures. Using this can really set the tone and mood for anything you create, it shows how the creator feel and how it makes the audience feel.

USING CANVA PT1

 

Welcome back, reader!

    This week in class we learned to use Canva. It was definitely an experience, there are so many different things you can use to edit, create and use. We did seven lessons in total and today I'm gonna talk about my experience with Canva. 

    The first lesson we did was fairly easy, I've used editing apps or websites before so I have some experience with using this things. We created a flyer and I tried to get creative and add different elements and pictures that fit into the narrative of Cambridge. For example, I added a build to resemble a school, also I added books and school supplies. We also learned to add videos to your page, this is a great advantage specially when it comes to making presentations for class. One of the activities included creating a collage, this is such a great thing to use, it really helps with adding multiple pictures and putting it as one. This could really help me when creating my magazine. We also learned about frames I think this is such a unique way to edit photos, it definitely makes it more appealing and interesting.

    Lesson 2, the activity required for me to take a picture of myself and then crop only my face. I felt very embarrassed to this specially in class but nevertheless I did it. I think learning to crop photos can be useful. For example, interviewing someone and need a picture of them I can then use this skill. 

    For lesson 3, it was sort of the same thing except it was a video and not a photo. Also we had to crop the video, I found this helpful, sometimes you record videos and need to edit it and on Canva its really easy to do.

#3- ABOUT ME

Hello again!

    Before we start on this journey to learn and understand this course. I want to talk about different things that inspire and drive me.

    To begin with, my name is Sandra and I'm a Cambridge Junior. Some of my favorite hobbies include reading, writing, and soccer. These hobbies have helped me relieve stress specially from school. I really like to achieve high scores on my assignment and also learn when doing homework. I always care about my grades and attendance.  Sophomore year I was in the soccer team but now Junior I'm trying to focus more on school. I thought it would be better for my schedule and my mental health if I do clubs in my senior year. 

    But besides the Cambridge program I'm also in the Biomedical Magnet program. I’m want to go to a college with a good criminology program. Although I want to be a csi having a background on medicine couldn’t hurt anyone. Since i’m in my junior year it’s going to be really stressful and with SATs coming up. I’m really trying to hold everything together to be able to achieve high scores in all my tests. 

    The reason I take interest in different hobbies and classes is because of various reasons. Firstly , I want to get into an excellent college that can meet my high standards. Secondly, I want my life to be full of experience. And lastly, I want to learn different things, just because I choose a certain pathway doesn’t mean I have to only stick to that, my hopes are that I do different hobbies, studies, and careers.

    I feel like this class is part of that journey I choose to go in. This class really interests me, I love to show my creativity and ideas, my only wish is that I enjoy it and learn new things. This class can really help me achieve my goals, although there’s no end goal yet I know that what’s in store for me would be just right for someone like me.

#2- REFLECTION ON SYLLABUS

Welcome back to my blog!

    As mentioned in the previous blog, this would serve as a documentation of my progress for the AICE Media Studies course. The only experience I have is yearbook class in 8th grade. In that class we edited different pictures and pages. This class helped me have some background knowledge that I can use in this class.

    Three aspects of the course I'm looking forward to:

• I'm looking forward to learn different camera angles to make my pictures more appealing. 
• I'm looking forward to create my magazine and find an interesting topic that I enjoy writing about.
• I'm looking forward to learn new information that I could apply to other classes.

    Three aspects of the course that make me nervous:

• I'm feeling nervous about the magazine and how the outcome would come up.
• I'm nervous about my editing skills, it's been a long time since I had a class like this.
• I feel anxious about the reflection because we can use various creative ideas to make them more interesting. I'm afraid I won't be able to deliver such creativeness.

    At the end of this course I hope to see progress being made. I want to create pieces of media that can be interesting and engaging to different audiences. I want to be able to learn new things that I didn’t know before. I hope that by the end my creativeness has expanded and be able to use it for college.

    Being in this course makes me feel excited for the things to come. All the things I’ll get to learn, new techniques and ideas i’ll get to explore. There’s a lot of things to do but I’m sure I’ll be able to accomplish my goals.

#1- INTRODUCTION

Hi, I'm Sandra

    This blog is for AICE Media Studies course project. These blogs would focus on documenting my progress developing the magazine. This magazine would include; a cover page, content page, and a double-page spread sheet. To be able to come up with the final product of this magazine I would put into action various skills that would provide as aid to do this magazine. I would need to use communication skills in order to get information for my topic. I also have to use what I know to edit my pages and at the same time learn along the way. I would have to put in my writing skills for me to be able to create content for this magazine. And also would need my organization skills to be able to arrange certain things for them to look appealing and well put together. 

    From this project I hope to learn new skills while also improving my own to be able to use them in the real world. There's various skills in this course that can help me in the long way. I want to learn from any mistakes I make and fix them so that I don't make them again. One main thing I would like to improve is my editing skills and for that to be reflected on my blogs. 
    As mentioned my project will be a magazine where I will display all elements needed for this project to transpire.
My main tasks are:

• In a group with maximum of four people we would come up with an idea of a magazine. But we would each have to create different versions of the topic chosen.  With the helped provided by my team, I would use their point of views and my own to create my magazine.

• Conduct as much research as I can so my project can come together. I would also have to discuss certain things like my topic and the layout of my magazine. I will use original photos with a minimum of four photos for each of my team members.

• Do preliminary exercises to build up my skills with equipment and convention. By doing this my progress towards working for the project would show how I have improved. Therefore, how I improve by doing the exercises would be reflected onto the magazine.
